Kappa Delta Meeting Minutes

Formal Meeting
November 20, 2005
 

          The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta held it’s formal meeting, Sunday, November 20, 2005 in the Education Building. The Head called the meeting to order and the minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

            Secretary, Sister Kristen Whittle announced sisters on academic and attendance bad standing. She reminded sister that if you are on bad standings you will not be able to vote in the elections. She announced reports due, and asked newly elected council to see her after the meeting.

            Vice President Membership, Sister Chealsea Austin thanked sisters who attended the recruitment party last week. She announced that we will go bowling Wednesday, November 30 at 7pm. If you have names of girls let her know. We will be handing out invitations to this. We will be paying for pnms to bowl.  We will need to pick up at least 10 new members in the spring.

            Vice President Standards, Sister Erin Foster reminded sisters that everything that is said in the meeting is under AOT. The consequence for breaking AOT is National Probation.

            Treasurer, Sister Ashley Morgan announced sisters on financial bad standing and what they owe, balance, checks written, deposits made.

            Assistant Treasurer, Sister Karen Baggarley announced that magazines are due tonight.

            Panhellenic, Sister Crystal Street gave fun facts about being Greek.

            Chapter Excellence, Sister Kylie Ransom read sisters that are running for council, and sisters slated for council.  Sister who were on slate have no voice, and if you are on any type of bad standing you will have no voice and no vote.

            President, Sister Meridith Mckenzie congratulated newly elected council. We did a good job with the CDC. Next time a CDC visits, do not be late when meeting with her, always have a pen and paper, and prepare ahead of time. She thanked the alumni for coming to the meeting.

            Songleader, Sister Laura Gregg thanked all of the freshmen for attending song practice tonight. Tonight we will sing “A Vow.”

            Sisterhood, We will be having a sisterhood Tuesday Night on the floor at 9. We will watch a movie and eat popcorn.

            Social, Sister Callie reminded sisters that we will have the EX social tomorrow night at Dingus.

 

            New Business:

            It has been moved that all new and old council attend the Council Pass it On Saturday, December 3 at 10 am until 2pm or a $50 fine and 1 month bad standings.

            Motion Approved.

            It has been moved that all sister attend the appointed offices pass it on, Sunday December 4 following the meeting at 6pm or a $50 fine and 1 month bad standings.

 

            Chaplain, Sister Christina Madero took prayer requests and said a prayer.

 

            The next meeting will be informal Monday, November 28, 2005 at 9pm.

November 13, 2005
 

            The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta held its formal meeting Sunday, November 13, 2005 in the Education Building.  The Head called the meeting to order and the minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

            Secretary, Sister Kristen Whittle announced reports due, and if you have Sister Meridith’s report, Sister Kristen needs it.

            Standards, Sister Erin Foster announced that we may wear nice pants to meet with the CDC.

            Treasurer, Sister Ashley Morgan announced the balance, checks written, deposits made, sisters on financial bad standings, and what they owe.

            Assistant Treasurer, Sister Karen Baggarley reminded sisters about Composite Pictures, but it was later canceled.

            Philanthropy, Sister Kelly Hogsed reminded sisters that this week we will go to the Methodist Youth Home with Suave to make picture frames Tuesday at 6pm. 

            Songleader, Sister Laura Gregg reminded the freshmen that they have song practice next Sunday at 6pm. This is moved for freshmen, but other sisters may attend. Tonight we will sing “Our Creed.”

            Girl Scout, Sister Jenny Faircloth announced that the Carnival was canceled and that she is meeting with Southland this week.

            Social, Sister Callie Austin announced the social with EX will be Monday, November 21st at Dingus with a Hawaiian Theme. White Rose will be April 8 in Atlanta.

            Fundraiser, Sister Megan announced sisters that still owe money.

            Membership, Sister Chealsea wanted sisters to know that we will be having a Recruitment Dinner at Monroe’s Wednesday night at 6:30. Invite potential new members to attend.

            Activities, Sister Ashley Housworth announced that we will have kickball games this week, and their will be a Woofleball tournament instead of a regular season.

            She also announced that the CDC, Sister Megan Morroco will arrive Monday night and she will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Council will meet with her Tuesday Night from 8:30 to 9:30.  There will be a formal chapter meeting Tuesday Night from 9:30 to 10:30.  If you cannot attend send an excuse to Sister Erin. Wednesday night the CDC will be eating dinner at Monroe’s at 6:30. When you meet with her wear formal attire and bring your notebook.  Meet with her in the TV Room.

           

            Announcements:

            There will be a Basketball game this Tuesday at 6.

            Sister Brittany Schott is getting together a step team, and if you are interested let her know.

 

            The next meeting will be Formal next Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 6 and 7.

Informal Meeting

November 6, 2005

 

            The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta held it’s informal meeting November 6, 2005 in the Education Building.  The Head called the meeting to order and the minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

            Secretary, Sister Kristen Whittle thanked Sister Lauren Beckum and Sister Jamie Freeman for picking up the mail this week.  She reminded sisters of Academic and Attendance Bad Standings, and that you may not vote tonight on slate if you are on any type of bad standings.  If you are a senior and want a graduation cord, see her.  Also, if you are interested in getting council bags, pens, and notepads, see her.

            Membership, Sister Chealsea announced that this Wednesday is the first Canes Basketball game in the new Student Success Center.  We will be inviting potential new members to go with us. Wear your jerseys and stay after for the Step Show to see Sister Katie Hall.  We need to keep girls interested in kaydee, because we will have spots to fill in the spring.  This is a recruitment event, and it is important that sisters come.

            Assistant Treasurer, Sister Karen Baggarley announced that we will be taking composite pictures Monday, November 14 12-2:45pm in the lobby of Duncan.  Sign up after the meeting.

            Chapter Excellence, Sister Kylie Ransom announced that she will continue taking council applications until tomorrow. We voted for slate. Sister Jade Hancock, Sister Jessi Hatton, Sister Laura Gregg, Sister Kelsie Mckenzie were elected for slate.  Sister running for council should meet with slate Tuesday.  Wear pin clothes, and sign up for a time tonight. She reviewed council position responsibilities.

            Sisterhood, Sister Kristen Roberts announced that the Thanksgiving social will be this Thursday, November 8 at Sister Meridith’s house. Seniors are in charge of bringing paper products, juniors-side dishes, sophomores-drinks and ice, freshmen-desserts. Dress as anything to do with Thanksgiving, and bring a riddle that goes with your costume.

            Fundraiser, Sister Megan Nichols asked that all sister turn in their Fundraiser money.

            Alumni Relations, Sister Kim Ergle reminded sisters about the progressive supper December 1. It will begin at the kd parking lot at 6pm.

            Girl Scouts, Sister Jenny Faircloth asked to see sisters that will not be returning in the spring.  Also, look for a message on the website, email, and face book about the Girl Scouts Carnival.

            Events Coordinator, Sister Brittany Schott thanked sister that participated Saturday in the parade.

            Activities Chair, Sister Ashley Housworth asked sisters to check their schedules for this weeks kickball games.

            President, Sister Meridith Mckenzie announced that CDC Sister Megan Morroco will be here November 14-17 to help with officer transition.  We will have elections next Sunday.  We will then decide when the old and new council will meet with her. Wear pin clothes when you meet with her and have your notebooks. She read a letter from the CDC and the National President.  She congratulated sisters that made O-Team. We nominated Sister Erin Foster for the Corrie Stegal Award.

            Announcements:

            Sister Kelsie encouraged all sisters to attend all events, even the ones that are not moved. 

            Tickets for the Step Show are $3 if you buy them now and $5 at the door.  Sister Katie Hall will be stepping for CAB. The basketball games are at 6 and 8 and the step show is after.

            Friday is Student Appreciation Day from 11-1 at Complex III. Wear a jersey. Zone 3 placed at the state flag football game in Athens this weekend.

            We have completed 398 community service hours as a chapter so far this semester.

            Chi Phi will be having their Pledge Auction November 16 at Dingus.

            The next meeting will be Formal Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 6 and 7 and elections will be held.

          The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta held it's formal meeting October 30, 2005 in the Education Building. The Head called the meeting to order, and the minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

            Treasurer, Sister Ashley Morgan announced checks written, deposits made, balance, sisters on financial bad standing and what they owe, and she announced that we will be voting on whether to go from $10 for the Golden Circle to $15. 

            Vice President Public Relations Sister Lauren Jones announced that we will be sending goodie bags to the fraternities for Halloween, and the left over bags will be sent to the Methodist Youth Home.

            Vice President Membership, Sister Chealsea Austin reminded sisters to pick up shirts, and that we need to keep girls interested in Kappa Delta, because we will have open spots in the Spring.

            Assistant Treasurer, Sister Karen Baggarley magazines will be due November 20 and every sister will have to sell $40 worth.

            Panhellenic Representative, Sister Crystal Street announced that we will be going to the Methodist Youth Home on November 15, and SUAVE will be going with us.

            Chapter Excellence, Sister Kylie Ransom announced that she is handing out council applications.  They will be due next Sunday.

            Alumni Relations, Sister Kim Ergle announced that she and the alumni will be planning a progressive supper December 1st for Christmas.  Every sister will need to buy one ornament and we will exchange them.

            Shamrock, Sister Callie Austin needs to meet with event leaders after the meeting.

            Fundraiser, Sister Megan Nichols asked that sisters turn in all fundraiser money tonight.

            Events Coordinator, Sister Brittany Schott reminded sisters that Saturday is the Pecan Parade.  Meet in the kd parking lot at 10 am.

            Philanthropy, Sister Kelly Hogsed reminded sister that we will be going to the Methodist Youth Home November 15 at 6pm.

            Girl Scout, Sister Jenny Faircloth asked that sister fill out the Girl Scout application before leaving the meeting tonight.  She has met with the advisor, and they are planning events that coordinate all scouts in the area.  Other troops are in need of helpers if anyone is interested.

            Songleader, We will be having song practice and meeting procedure for new sisters on November 20 at 6pm.  It will be moved.

            President, Sister Kelsie filled in because Sister Meridith is sick.  She annoucned the wishlist for Christmas for the Methodist Youth Home.  The chapter will be giving the girls $10 gift cards, and we will be collecting personal items for them.  Each sister should bring at least one personal item for the girls by November 20. She reminded sister that if you want to run for council you must have the grades and it is a big commitment.  Don't forget to register for Spring classes. We will be getting a name plate and a answering machine for our office in the student center.  Halloween on the floor is tomorrow night.  Be dressed tastefully on the floor at 5:45 with a bag of candy.  We will be redecorating the floor after the meeting tonight. AKA is collecting coats for the Salvation Army. If you have any coats to donate, bring them to the next meeting. The CDC will be here November 14-17.  Required events and meetings will be announced later.  Thanks to sisters who went to ZTA's Big Man on Campus.

            Sister Brittany Luther announced that DFACS is collecting old duffle bags.

            Sister Ashley Housworth announced that she will be handing out kickball schedules after the meeting, and if you are interested in playing woofleball see her after the meeting.

            It has been moved that we pay $15 for Golden Circle instead of $10.

October 24, 2005

The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta held it’s informal meeting Monday, October 24, 2005 in the Education Building. The Head called the meeting to order and the minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

Secretary, Sister Kristen Whittle reminded sisters of reports due.

Vice President Membership, Sister Chealsea Austin reminded sisters that she has reordered rush t-shirts. You must pay for them, before you get them.

Vice President Standards, Sister Erin Foster reminded sisters that it is now fall and there should be no open toed shoes at the meetings. Also, sisters should not wear t-shirts or jerseys to meetings.

Panhellenic, Sister Crystal Street announced that ZTA’s Big Man on Campus is this Wednesday at 7:30. The tickets are $2 now, and $5 at the door. You can get the tickets from Sisters Kim and Chasity.

President, Sister Meridith Mckenzie discussed the Chamber of Commerce fundraiser. It has been extended for 1 more week. If the businesses are out of town, call them. Check our website for more businesses.

Fundraiser, Sister Megan Nichols gave out the contracts from the car wash. She asks that sisters bring the money by the next meeting. We washed 72 cars.

T-Shirt, Sister Kristen Roberts announced that 2 of the t-shirts are in, but the Emerald Ball shirts were not ready yet and she will be picking them up tomorrow.

Events Coordinator, Sister Brittany Schott reminded sisters that the Americus Pecan Parade is November 5 at 11am. We will have a float and our theme is Kaydee’s are Cookin’ up Fun.

Sisterhood, Sister Rebecca Wise reminded sisters that after Big Man on Campus we will be carving pumpkins up on the floor. Bring your own pumpkin and the tools to carve it with.

Sports and Activities, Sister Ashley Housworth announced that the Green Kickball team played tonight and won. The White Kickball team will play Wednesday at 6:15 and 8:15. The Green team will play the White Team at 8:15.

Announcements:

Sister Jenny Faircloth announced that the Greeks are having a pumpkin carving competition and they need 6 people to judge Thursday at 7pm.

Sister Kelsie Mckenzie announced that she needs sisters to try out for O’Team. Email the application forms by Friday.

Sister Laura Gregg thanked sisters for being supportive in the death of Michael Hardester’s Grandfather.

The next meeting will be formal October 30, 2005 at 6 and 7.
